If you or someone you know is interested in adopting Ezra, check out his story on our website.
This Saturday is Ezra's birthday! He will be turning 7. Typically, a 7-year-old-to-be would be waiting on pins and needles for his birthday to arrive. He would be planning a party for all his friends, anticipating what gifts he might receive, and imagining all the super cool benefits he'll have as the "birthday boy." Every birthday is a positive milestone... but not for orphans in China. In China, when you reach age 14, you are taken out of the adoption system, with no hope to ever get a forever family. Getting older means you are that much closer to "aging out." Thousands of older children across China wait anxiously for their forever family to find them before they turn 14.
Luckily for Ezra, he is only halfway there. Or should I say, already halfway there. As you are reading this, Ezra is waiting for his forever family. His paperwork is ready, his file is available... all he needs is a mom and dad to say: "We've finally found you! We want you, we love you, please be our son." On Saturday, Ezra may or may not know that it is his birthday this Saturday. But either way, there will be no fanfare. With 57 kids and about 5 or 6 nannies, there is no time for birthday celebrations. Saturday will be just like any other day.
A note from Rebekah...
If you've ever wondered what it would be like to start a nonprofit from the ground up, to open a home for ORPHANS with special needs in CHINA, you've come to the right place.
