Thanksgiving is upon us.
And although this holiday has nothing to do with China, I find myself thinking back to the first American holiday I ever spent in China in 2010... Thanksgiving! I tried so hard to make my grandma's sweet potatoes with marshmallows on top. They left a lot to be desired, unfortunate for more reasons than the amount I'd shelled out for marshmallows. Meat, too, was expensive. To get a whole turkey, aside from killing it and de-feathering it yourself, was around $70. We passed on that. Got a ham instead. But we had pumpkin pie! And let's be honest, pie is the most important part of a Thanksgiving meal.
Sara and I and friends had a blast cooking that day. We had no days off, because it wasn't a Chinese holiday. But as we sat around the dinner table with our American, Chinese, and Australian friends, it was fun to celebrate thankfulness and all ways that Father had blessed us that year.
Cheesy as it is, I'd like to invite you into our little thanksgiving tradition this year, of looking back and appreciating all the good things that have happened this year. Because Dad is so good to us, and we can't help but thank Him for it!
WE ARE THANKFUL FOR.........
A thriving partnership with the gov't orphanage in China! Without their positivity and willingness to work with us, Hope Station would just be a children's home without children.
Our amazing Board of Directors that donates their time and wisdom to make Hope Station better and better!
An INCREDIBLE partnership with a Chinese nonprofit in Chengdu, The Chinese Relief and Development Foundation! Without them, we wouldn't be able to pull off this dream.
Multiple churches and clubs who are supporting our vision financially and prayerfully!
Lots of SUPER fun events! Like a dance party, Chalk It Up!, Pryer Meets, Send Off for Rebekah, Give to the Max, and more!
A ONE-OF-A-KIND summer in Chengdu, hanging out with kiddos and strengthening local relationships. In June-August, Rebekah was able to serve 57 kids, do 10 crafts, make nannies smile, hold 5 babies lots of times, do behavior therapy and physical therapy, and so much more.
All of YOU! Our supportive and loving donor family that has stood behind us through the months and years... We've gone from $6,250 in annual recurring gifts in January to $36,780! WOW. Not to mention more than $28,000 in donations we've received in between those repeating gifts.
THANK YOU from the bottom of our hearts.
