And it’s a story that will forever be engraved on my heart.
Within moments of my arrival at the orphanage for my first visit back, one of the nannies found me. She looked like she was about to burst as the words spilled out of her mouth. “Did you see Josiah when you were in America?” I told her regretfully that I wasn’t able to see him, America is a big place and he lives in a different state. “But I’ve talked to him on video chat! And I have pictures!” I said. I pulled out my phone and started showing her the pictures and videos, flipping through them as she looked. After a few pictures, I looked at her with a smile and realized she was sobbing. The tears were streaming down her face and she was doing all she could, albeit unsuccessfully, to keep her emotions at bay.
“I really miss him. He was like a son to me. I will always miss him.”
“Do you want to send him a message in my phone? I can take a video of you…”
“Yes! I want to tell him how much I miss him.”
